The problem

The website was a bottleneck, not a growth lever

Their default SiteLink site was not tailored to the brand and had no conversion-focused design. Support was slow, updates were difficult, and at 2% sitewide conversion they knew they were leaving revenue on the table. With new facilities opening constantly, the site could not keep up.

The approach

Three phases, shipped in order of impact

Phase 01

Brand-aligned website redesign

A custom-themed site that looks clean, trustworthy, and current, with unit-specific URLs so the fresh site could launch quickly instead of waiting on API work.

Phase 02

Custom move-in, wired to SiteLink

We mapped their user flows, then built a custom SiteLink API integration: a seamless move-in experience that also carries upsells and value-based pricing.

Phase 03 · deprioritized

Branded account management

A branded login and bill-pay portal was scoped and mapped, then set aside as the business model shifted. Scope follows the operator, not the proposal.

Their website quickly became a benchmark at industry trade shows, praised as a top-tier example of what a modern self storage website could and should be.

What the industry noticed
The outcome

Same traffic. Nearly three times the move-ins.

Conversion went from 2% to 5.5% and held. Paid search added more than 380 move-ins a month on top of it. The operator got a platform that could absorb new facilities as fast as they opened them.

Mobile first

Most move-ins happen on a phone, so unit selection was designed for mobile and then scaled up.

What happened next

With a proven online engine fueling their growth, the owners eventually stepped back from operations and brought in a national management firm. The custom site is no longer live, but the impact it made was real and lasting.
